Well, the first couple of weeks are behind us and Uldir is looming ever closer. In about a week we will be moving through the new raid at a quick pace. Here are the expectations to date:
Remember that we set minimums so that we can ensure we are successful. If you aren’t going to reach that threshold by September 4th, keep working at it and completing dungeons.
Optimization for this week
For those that need armor:
I know that many people are itching to get into this content as soon as possible, and I appreciate the enthusiasm. That said:
Frontloading vs Marathoning content
What content should I focus on?
While the content is not as heavy as Legion to start with, there are some things you should prioritize weekly at this point:
Hello again Zuggies! With the Battle for Azeroth pre-patch arriving tomorrow, so does raiding! Tomorrow at 5:15 pm PST/8:15 server (Area 52 is EST, not PST like Silvermoon), we'll check out the new stuff together. Log on and check the guild calendar, the raids are set up there so people can experiment with class changes before the next expansion goes live. If you have any questions, message Dire or Iridin and they'll get it sorted out. See you at the raid!
Hello Zuggies! There will be a guild meeting on Thursday, June 14, at 7 pm PST. Yes, it's a later start time for the meeting, but we hope it also makes it easier for people to attend. As always, if you're not available at that time, the meeting will be streamed to the HoZ Facebook page and/or the HoZ Twitch stream, with a Youtube video of it coming later. We'll have an agenda set up at the meeting, as well as the pre/post expansion guild survey to help the officers direct the guild better going forward. See you there!
HoZ Recruiting by House of Zug
House of Zug is now recruiting! Check us out at www.houseofzug.com or message us directly at http://ift.tt/2Iqhn8B or via YouTube
We’ve accomplished a lot over the past year and a half. What started with 34 people and full clearing Emerald Nightmare is now at 15 or so people and full clearing Antorus. We may be a smaller team, but we’ve forged stronger relationships because of it. While we have had some leadership changes, I’ve been told several times that we’ve moved faster this expansion than any time prior. I am pleased to have been able to lead that effort, as I believe our skill cap has increased.
We’ve been raiding Antorus for 3 months, and have 6 months left before BfA. Farming Antorus for 6 more months sounds like a dire bore to me, as I am sure it is for everyone else. Here are our plans for the expansion:
This has been a long discussion for our guild since Nighthold. I am relieved to see that many of our raiders are interested in moving, as that tells me we have a strong community that people want to take part in.
Full transparency here: I can’t tell you for certain that this is going to resolve all of the recruitment issues, and while this move may make some things easier; we will have new struggles as we forge ahead. We are going from a small server with very few guilds to compete against, to a server where we could get “lost” in the pack.
The largest benefit Zug has is that our core values have fostered have a stronger community, with far more transparency in our decision-making than any of the guilds I’ve been a part of previously. I believe that by moving here, we will attract better raiders and be able to push through heroic content faster, which allows us to look at Mythic raiding. We will continue to start on heroic level, as we are a heroic guild and unproven at the Mythic level. Normal will still be used for FNF as a recruitment tool.
The official move date for House of Zug to Area 52 is on March 6th
We will be focusing our efforts on Area 52 and our recruitment will be done there. People are welcome to raid with us from Silvermoon, but you will need to have a toon with the same name on Area 52 so we can still award EP. EP will be continuing in BfA, but there will be a different loot system that the officers and I will be working on over the next 6 months. You should also expect that performance standards will be clearly communicated and posted onto the website as we move into BfA. Mythic Raiding will require higher standards.
This is an exciting time for Zug, and one that will stress the mettle of our guild. I ask that we stay committed to the values and principles Zug stands for as we move forward into the unknown. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ravindra, Iridin or myself.
For the horde!
I think we all can agree that there were some frustrations on Tuesday. I believe many of these issues stemmed from the login problems Blizzard was having, making people feel unprepared mentally and/or emotionally for the raid. Going forward, if we aren’t sure about stability an hour before raid, we will call it off.
There are some other points that I want to bring up as well. The first being alts. Alts are not an issue for farm nights, especially if they offer utility on certain encounters, or you are looking to switch because you have begun to hate your main. It is perfectly okay to test the waters and see if this alt is a right fit for you. If you opt to make this your main, then you can formally announce that and we will shift over your EP. This can only occur once per month unless there is a dire circumstance where the Raid Leader asks you to swap.
In order to play on an alt:
The second thing that I want to discuss here is parsing. Parsing high is a great feeling and there are things you can pull from that data. At times, it means that you performed your rotation exceptionally well, were able to put out a good amount of damage and didn’t die. Other times, it could mean that you are ignoring mechanics to make yourself look better. There are many times where I could swap to dps gear and parse well, but that would cause a burden to our healers that is unacceptable for progression.
To that effect:
House of Zug is founded on principles that have created an awesome community. I have never seen a community like this before. The second that we put ourselves ahead of others is the moment we begin to lose our identity. Placing people on ignore is never an appropriate response, even if you aren’t the biggest fan of someone. Try to be constructive when you are seeing people not perform at their best, rather than ignoring the issue or being overly critical. It is easier to point a finger than to lift someone up.
