Warlords has arrived! Although the journey through the Dark Portal was met with a little turbulence, a few of you have already managed to reach level 100 with more on the way. Like you, our guild is leveling up—adding a whole new lineup of events:
NEW RAID TIMES ANNOUNCED
Highmaul, the first raid instance in Warlords of Draenor, opens Tuesday, December 2. I am proud to announce that House of Zug will be entering the raiding scene day 1! Those who meet the prerequisites (TBA) will be eligible to sign up and attend raid nights on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, tentatively scheduled from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM (PT/ST*).
To address the elephant in the room, yes, we will be shutting down our Flex Raid Fridays event plans. The original concept was to entice new players to an ultra-flexible environment, bolstering our ranks until we could move to a more conventional schedule. However, after careful consideration, the officers agreed that creating an ultra flexible atmosphere did not send the right message nor attract the right player to our team. Moreover, requiring the five hour attention span of anyone after a long week of school or work is borderline criminal.
TOWN HALL MEETING FOR RAIDERS
Tuesday, November 25 (one week before raids open), House of Zug will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting to discuss raiding expectations and outline our plans for progression as well as field your questions and finalize scheduling. Both Psylo (Crusade) and I have worked hard to create a system which simultaneously allows flexibility for those who need it while incentivizing consistent participation. The raiding requirements are very mild, accomplishable (we believe) on any schedule. A forum thread has been created to field initial concerns and announce plans to participate. (I apologize in advance for the terrible color pattern in the forums, I'm working on a way to fix that.) I encourage anyone who is interested to post their preferred class and specialization as well as their schedule limitations. If you do not attend this event, we will assume you are not interesting in raiding (unless you reach out to us otherwise). This event will take place on Ventrilo in the Guild Hall channel.
INTRODUCING GUILD NIGHT
In addition to a new raiding schedule, House of Zug is proud to announce a new event: Guild Night. Each and every Wednesday (beginning December 3), House of Zug will take a step back from Warcraft progression to explore other activities in the Blizzard universe, such as Hearthstone Tournaments, Heroes of the Storm pre-form groups, Warcraft “Crappy PVP” Nights, and much more. The events themselves will be voted on in advance by the community. Pleasecontact me with your suggestions for future events not currently listed on the poll. Guild Night events are designed to be non-competitive, casual, and probably very silly. Members are welcome to come and go as they please and bring friends (provided everyone adheres to our posted communication policies). The goal of Guild Night is to relax and have fun, while exploring the greater Blizzard Entertainment universe with the entire House of Zug community. Guild night will begin and end the same times as raids for the sake of consistency and simplicity. These times will be finalized shortly after the November 25 Town Hall Meeting. The first round of event voting for December 2014 is already underway!
GROUPME MOBILE GUILD CHAT
Can’t stand being away from the keyboard? House of Zug has the solution for you.Download the free app GroupMe, and join the House of Zug War Room—a mobile guild chat room. The GroupMe app allows you to create an avatar profile, keeping your name and telephone number completely confidential (if you like). Moreover, the app can be silenced and filtered to only receive messages when you want. It’s a fantastic way to stay in touch with your fellow Zuggies and ensure you don’t miss any of the action. Ask an officer about how you can join the House of Zug War Room!
(Please be aware that standard messaging rates may apply depending on your provider. There is no data charge while connected to wifi, and most plans today offer unlimited text messaging; however, if you are unsure, check with your provider to avoid a billing surprise—especially if you are international.)
I hope you are all as excited as we are to begin rolling out these events. The guild has been very active and passionate about the new Warcraft expansion, and I excited to see many of you so eager to begin raiding. Much more information will be coming down the pipeline.
